Last of Summer

Its been a screwy last few months for us, a lot of travel and big changes.  Time has passed off speed.  Some things seem like they happened ages ago and others seem if it were yesterday.  But the end of summer is here and although we have no real context for it, having spend most of the time these last months in winter,  its clearly almost gone.

We had our Labor Day dinner with a pair of dear families.  When we were living in Connecticut before Argentina we divvied up the long weekends (Memorial, 4th of July and Labor Day) and took turns hosting a shared culinary effort. It was part of our summer tradition.

We got back in the rotation and yesterday had the crew (15 in total) for a lobster slaughter.  The kids are older (who am I kidding? we are all older!) and time has ticked away, but it feels remarkably familiar, comfortable and good to be home.
