I finally got this photo of the kids. Now I don’t even try to entice them with hot cocoa, I am negioting with each one separately, and this year Henry served as an agent for Georgie. I sent this photo out with our well wishes and a satirical jab at the traditional annual letter that many people send, highlighting the admirable accomplishments of family members.
The O’Connells are all well, a year older and continuing to love life in Argentina.
Best thing that happened this year for everyone: Henry says his 300 foot free dive in a blue hole was his highlight. Callum got a voice gig “Senior Chirizo” on a Simpsons’ episode debuting next season (more on that later). Owen says playing catch with Nick Swisher was the best thing for him. Georgie is pleased as punch that American Girl Doll is using her likeness for the Girl of 2011, Georgiana, Expat girl. Elizabeth said turning weekly card games into a fulltime and lucrative job is her proudest accomplishment and GM remembers fondly finishing the marathon. Its been action packed around here.
Surprisingly, we received many responses congratulating us on our various activities. Nice to know our friends think there is potential. Some were surprised at Henry’s diving skills after only 2 summers at dive camp. One friend remarked that they knew voiceovers were the future and others were perplexed by my ability to turn a drinking game into a career. But perhaps the most wonder was reserved for GM completing a marathon. Many remarked how impressed they were that he had over come his neck, lower back, hip, feet (or insert any body part here) problem.
It was a joke. In Latin America the holidays are open season on pranks, jokes, just like April Fools’ in the States. When you are punked, they yell “Inocentes!”
