El Mundial es mas Mundial

Just a short break from the ardous task of getting the kids to blog (with help from me) on their favorite part of our trip to the States.

A major preoccupation during the first month of our trip was figuring out where we would be able to view the World Cup games.  Not just the Argentine games or to a lesser degree the US games, but all the games.  We watched as many of the games as we could given our travel schedule.  We were up at 7:00 in the morning to watch games, went to venues for lunch that might carry the games,  and listened to several of them on the car radio.  Owen was the official point keeper and carried with him a guide that the local Buenos Aires newspaper La Nacion published with all the teams, schedules and all relative data.  This was where we were able to keep the brackets straight. Owen also had his Figuerita album with him.  Figuerita mania is worthy of its own post, perhaps in 2014.

Anyway, I thought this was a great video, funny, touching and very true.  We lost badly to Germany in the 8’s.  The only thing good you can say about this loss was that it wasn’t as devastating as the penalty kick loss to Germany in 2006, also in the 8’s. The other good thing was that we weren’t in Argentina to be sad with the entire population of the country.  Maybe next time we can have a real technical director….
