You are generalizing tea partiers. Perhaps you are not aware of our country’s history and the Boston Tea Party. Tea stands for Taxed Enough Already. Obama is trying to turn this into a socialist nation. Most people mistakenly call this a democracy. We are a republic and we are tired of watching our government turn us into a socialist country. The rich can take care of themselves. The rest of us have to support ourselves and the rest of the people. We are sick of yet. Get off your ass and work. No more welfare unless you are disabled. Not depressed – physically able.
Wow…Tammy you are keeping me busy.
1. Boston Tea Party was a protest against being taxed WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. I am assuming you voted, but it sounds like your candidates didn’t fair so well in the last elections. You have every right to protest. But don’t pretend some dictator or monarch is imposing taxes on you. They are elected officials.
2. I wont begin to decipher you understanding of the difference between political and economic systems. Socialism exists on a continuum. There are different degrees in which a country’s government supports “social programs”. And in many “socialist” countries, free markets function quite well. There are other places, like were I live, socialism is very dysfunctional. But with all that said, what you seemed to be concerned with is the idea that people are sitting around collecting welfare and eating bonbons on your dime. Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) and Food Stamps barely make up 2% of the federal, state and local budgets. So you can hate being taxed
but you should look to the defense and Social Security related costs as the culprit. People receiving public assistance generally get off in under two years and work…most people do want to work. Its not a ploy to get you to support them.
