This makes me smile

The above photo is from a protest by the Westboro Baptist Church (they hate everyone in the name of God) that took place at Twitter Headquarters in San Francisco in January.  On the right you can see an example of  the brilliant and hilarious counter protest.  To see more if the silliness go here.

It’s not surprising that a bit of wit is enough to defused the blatantly hateful message of groups like Fred Phelp’s WBC.   The Tax Day Tea Party Protests are scheduled to take place all over the States on Thursday.  These protesters are a little more complicated because they might not all be hateful but do seemed to be kind of thick.  There is a guy in Oregon named Jason Levin who has a plan to outsmart of the Teabaggers…infiltrate and out dumb them…make them look bad (worse).  The idea is to get these pranksters to join their rallies and enforce and even ratchet up the crazy factor of these protests, pushing them further and further out of the mainstream. Seems like a good strategy, you would think.

So the Tea Baggers have already gotten wind of this and are pissed and paranoid.  For organizers, it’s a nightmare.  They claim to be trying to cull the herd of the  most radical attendees whose bigoted signs (many misspelled) detract from their point which they claim is more about excessive taxing and less about Obama was born in Kenya and has communist, fascist tendencies.  But what the Tea Bagger organizers do have now, is a convenient scapegoat for some of the fringe members..its the infiltrators, the liberals who are behind the elements they say they want to distance themselves from.

I don’t know how it will all play out in the end, but I do know that I am looking forward to seeing some more epic signage.

  2. I stumbled upon one of these tax day protests in Daley Plaza in Chicago on Thursday and I thought it was a Klan rally. Unbelievable signs, unbelievable ignorance. I was ashamed to be an American frankly.

Again, you take a small minority of whackos and tell people they represent the majority. Typical hippy expat. You must be a liberal. And YOU are the ignorant one. Teabagger is a sexually derogatory term. Most of the people who are fighting for the good of our country are Christians (yes, a few whackos do show up) and we wrote our gov’t to stop using this term. They did.
