The Good, the Bad and the Depressing

First the Good. He is a good guy and a courageous guy. Just watch his video, it says it all. There are ways to support his legal defense effort or just send him an email and say “right on”.

Now the Bad.

Kathleen Parker. She is bad. Somehow her syndicated column gets picked up at the WaPo on occasion. She is a bigot or stupid or both, cant tell. I am getting use to the idea that there are still people that feel this way, but I am having a hard time believing that a paper that has the legacy it has, is paying her for this crap.

That’s how 24-year-old Josh Fry of West Virginia described his preference for John McCain over Barack Obama. His feelings aren’t racist, he explained. He would just be more comfortable with “someone who is a full-blooded American as president…..

It’s about blood equity, heritage and commitment to hard-won American values. And roots.

Some run deeper than others and therein lies the truth of Josh Fry’s political sense. In a country that is rapidly changing demographically — and where new neighbors may have arrived last year, not last century — there is a very real sense that once-upon-a-time America is getting lost in the dash to diversity.

What they know is that their forefathers fought and died for an America that has worked pretty well for more than 200 years. What they sense is that their heritage is being swept under the carpet while multiculturalism becomes the new national narrative. And they fear what else might get lost in the remodeling of America.

Republicans more than Democrats seem to get this, though Hillary Clinton has figured it out. And, the truth is, Clinton’s own DNA is cobbled with many of the same values that rural and small-town Americans cling to. She understands viscerally what Obama has to study.

Someone please tell me what the fuck is she talking about??? I really don’t know what to say about this. She is an Ann Coulter dressed in Martha Stewart’s clothing. If you are a masochist, read her subsequent article about how Obama and Edwards are just a pair of ineffectual pretty boy lightweights. Its spectacular in a really shitty way.

And finally, the Depressing.

Those who have blogs know that the blog servers have traffic statistic software. This allows you to account for who visits your blog. For instance, shown below, you can see what search words are used to find your blog. I wrote a post 8 months ago about my High School Musical on Ice experience. Sad to say it seems High School Musical is the road that most of my 75 or so daily hits arrive on. Depressing. You see, my target audience is not 6-10 year old girls. I do not think they will find my take on US politics particularly cute or pink or remotely pony-like.

These are terms people used to find your blog Today

About Elizabeth

Wife and mother of four. This blog is personal, political and hopefully relevant with a sense of humor. I got to have a sense of humor with the tough crowd I deal with everyday, and they cant even vote, drink or drive.

  1. Hello,
I found your blog by typing in Chiroux. I am happy to report that I am not in the age bracket of 6-10, but rather I am 25 and I am political. I hope that makes you happy.

I like your blog and find it a bit humorous as well as saddening. The political climate in the US is a bizarre temperature right now. ( could this be due to global warming too?)

    Thanks for your observations!
