Today we opened the store. It was a lot of fun. We had quite a few people walk in and look around, despite the rain. I think there were a fair number of people shocked by the prices (it is expensive) but almost everyone told us how beautiful everything looked and and several neighbors, many of them gay, where very welcoming and complementary and just happy to have us in the neighborhood.
It was a long time to be away from the house (12 hours), but everyone survived at home and this wont be forever. We are still a few weeks away from having all the kinks worked out and confident with the staff coverage. We did sell one item today, a $20 cosmetic case and had a almost sale of a $200 purse (her credit card was maxed out). I am confident that through word of mouth, a media campaign, and hitting up the tourist and expat market we will be successful (or least not lose any money). Whatever may happen in the future and despite the unexpected hiccups here and there in the journey so far, it has been a blast and I believe it will continue to be. I am doing something with a smart, funny and all around good person, creating something really unique and beautiful, selling something I have an opinion about and want to see done in a quality way and learning a lot in the process, like how much, right now, I am into grey, especially grey patent.
I am trying to just get over your website which I have abashedly (word) am only just visiting.
Your store looks smashing!!! How fun. Empty insights is hilarious-I have never been over grey (although my coloring may be) but have never thought to couple it with patent. xoxoxxo
